The result is that patients get timely, informative answers (often with more empathy and detail). John W. Ayers from the Qualcomm Institute at UC San Diego, along with Longhurst and colleagues, discovered that a panel of licensed healthcare professionals preferred ChatGPT’s responses 79% of the time, considering them to be of high quality and more empathetic.

LLM Agents in Manufacturing

Modern factories generate enormous amounts of data (from sensors, machines, quality logs, etc.) and LLM agents can function as an intelligent interface to make sense of it all. Use cases in manufacturing include providing frontline workers and engineers with a natural language query engine for factory knowledge. Instead of combing through manuals or calling a specialist, an operator could ask an LLM agent, “Why did machine X stop last night?” or “How do I recalibrate this device?” The LLM agent, having been trained on equipment documentation and historical incident data can interpret the question and retrieve an actionable answer (or even walk the operator through troubleshooting steps). In logistics and supply chain management, timing and information are everything. LLM agents are being applied to make supply chains smarter and more responsive.
